Why should I do yoga?
Here are our top five reasons why you should practise yoga.
Physical health
Power yoga is specifically designed to help you lose weight, as well as strengthen and tone your body. Practising intensive forms of power yoga, such as Vinyasa, Hot Vinyasa and Ashtanga will improve your physical health in ways you never thought possible. As your body grows stronger, your mind will expand. This will help you develop better focus, patience and self-awareness.
Relieve stress
When practising yoga, you learn to breathe differently. You will understand how breathing gives you power to control your emotions – particularly in highly stressful situations. Before long, you’ll be breathing before you have a chance to react, resulting in fewer arguments and increased emotional clarity.
Relieve pain
When practised under the guidance of experienced teachers, yoga can serve as an effective pain management method. Along with easing the pain of arthritis, back pain, headaches and more, yoga will relieve tension in parts of your body you weren’t even aware of. Yoga will energise and cleanse your digestive system, improve circulation and enhance joint strength.
Connect to your divine source
Yoga gives you the opportunity to explore your spiritual side. Spirituality can mean different things to different people. To some, it means being more in touch with your inner self; to others, it means a greater connection to the universe. Or, being spiritual can simply mean being reverent with nature, your faith or your time – everything that holds meaning to you.
Get some “me time”
Practising yoga gives you a chance to carve out some quality time for yourself. Yoga allows you to take an hour out of your busy day, to let everything go. Before you know it, your yoga sessions will become the highlight of your day, as you build physical, mental and emotional strength.
