"Kundalini Yoga is called the Yoga of Awareness". It is a dynamic, powerful tool that is designed to give you an experience of your soul. In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purifiy the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul. Don’t worry if you don’t know the mantras, you’ll soon pick them up as you come along to more classes. We then do a kriya for whatever theme we’re focusing on that day. A kriya (which literally means ‘cleansing’) is a specific group of exercises that contain any combination of movements, breathwork, mantras, music and mudras (hand gestures). Some of it’s challenging, some of it’s easy, but it’s always a journey into a greater awareness of yourself. After doing the kriya, we have relaxation. We usually finish a kundalini yoga classes with a meditation. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. You can bring a small shawl/warm wrap for the relaxation. This class is on Friday morning's at 7:15am - 8:15am for women aged 50+.

While you’ll feel deeply relaxed during the class, some people will also find it helps them to relax outside of the session, sleep better and deal with stress more easily. The Gong is played to bring an intense sense of well-being and re-stabilize the balance of energise. You will be guided through some pranayama (breathing exercises) before the sound healing begins. You’ll then be asked to lie down and get warm and comfy, before the healing and relaxing sounds of the gong and other instruments begin in the background for the remainder of the session Please bring a mat, pillow, blanket (anything that makes you comfortable) or a reclining camping chair. The session is for 1 1/2 hours and is held fortnightly on a Sunday at 4pm -5:30pm.

Benefits include, increased muscle tone and flexibility, reduced stress and pain, and improved mood and overall sense of well-being. Our plan is to run these classes on a regular weekly basis in 2020 so we’re doing this taster session to see the level of interest in it. This class is held on a Friday morning 9:30am - 10:15am.
