What to eat before you race:
Try to limit the alcohol. Can dehydrate you and put your body under additional stress. If you are going to eat breakfast, try to eat 2-3 hours before you race. Great in theory, but in practice that means getting up around 2 in the morning. Usually I don’t bother, other than maybe an apple or a muesli bar if you are desperate.
In the day or 2 before the race try get protein and carbs into your system, avoid junk foods. With the pasta's you may eat to carbo load, try avoid overly heavy or cheesy sauces. If you ar not sure what to eat, find a Sydney nutritionist or a Sydney dietician to help. As a last word of warning, avoid Indian or Mexican food or in fact any spicy food the night before or this can have disastrous consequences.
The above list of events has been compiled manually from various sources around the web, if you find any errors please let us know. Please also check details on the respective race websites before registering and ensure you can safely complete the race distance. Good Luck!
