Think race preparation:

If you are new to this, race preparation to avoid putting you off on the day. Little things like like forgetting to charge your phone, wearing different shoes or the weather and not having rain protection because you got changed in the dark and were runnng late.

Simple race checklist for the night before:

  1. Putting your clothes out, all stuff you have run in before including socks, undies, shorts, top/s, cap, sunnies and rain protection. (Check the weather). We work on an additional layer for every 8 degress below normal room temperture.
  2. Charge your smartphone, Garmin, Tom Tom or whatever you use and put it out with your heartrate monitor if you have. Check any syncing r ntegration is working.
  3. Fuel your water bottles. Most runs have water stations, check the distances on the course map and see what you are comfortable with re distances between the stations.
  4. Fav running shoes, check their tread, shoe laces and for any other damage you may not have noticed before. Never run a race in new shoes for the first time.
  5. If you are carrying a hip pouch, take $20, some energy gels just in case, your keys and phone. Spibelts are good for this.
  6. Pin on your race number, read the insturctions in your race pack carefully.
  7. Cap, only tried and trusted ones. See note on weather
  8. Go to the loo, event loo's are really busy and you may even miss the start waiting to go.
  9. Headphones, most events prefer you don't wear headphones and for good reason but I have never seen anyone arrested for this!
  10. If in Winter, take an old T shirt you can remove once you start, makes it a little more comfortable in the cold mornings of June.

The above list of events has been compiled manually from various sources around the web, if you find any errors please let us know. Like us or follow us on Facebook for monthly updates. Please also check details on the respective race websites before registering and ensure you can safely complete the race distance. Good Luck!
