Active Adults in the Adelaide Region are Happy, Healthy & Resilient

If you’re like most health-focused people in the Adelaide Region, no matter how busy life gets, prioritising your physical and mental wellbeing is a must. Research shows that you’re on the right track if you have good daily habits around food, movement, relaxation and healthy activities with friends, loved ones or valued community groups.

Read on below to find out why. Then, click over to our Top 25 Most Popular Health and Wellness Resources to find out how people like you are choosing to stay fit and healthy. NOTE: Find your home region or suburb using the navigation menu on the left hand side.

  1. Good Health and Wellbeing

Levels of obesity have been rising in recent decades, partly due to an increase in the intake of processed and sugary foods and a reduction in the amount of time spent moving. Keeping  physically active with sports, dance, martial arts or gym classes supports good health, fitness and optimal wellbeing.

  2. Skills That Thrill

Developing a skill that you love - whether it be tennis, personal training or an ability to cook paleo meal well - can help you access a type of experience that positive psychologists term the “flow state.” Getting lost in a skill you love helps produce happy brain chemistry, build a strong self-identity and supports the development of resilience over time.

  1. Finding Your Tribe

Taking part in awesome activities outside of your home is an important way to find your tribe and stay connected with the wider community. Exploring interests and value systems in like-minded groups helps build resilience, self-identity and provide another place of belonging in the world.

  2. Confidence & Self-Esteem

Developing skills, finding tribe, keeping fit and building a strong sense of self are all factors that fuel the development of confidence and self-esteem. Confidence and self-esteem helps  you identify new opportunities and take advantage of them when they arise so you can live a full and rewarding life.
